Harriet Cross MP has launched a petition to calling for step free access at Insch Railway Station.
As the Member of Parliament for Gordon and Buchan, Harriet has been contacted by many constituents in Insch and the surrounding villages, concerned that there is still no step free access to platform one at Insch Railway Station. Insch is the only station in the north-east where both platforms are not fully accessible.
This situation forces some passengers to travel to other stations with step-free access, an unreasonable and inconvenient solution, particularly in rural Aberdeenshire where alternatives are limited. It also undermines the goal of encouraging greater use of public transport.
For almost two decades, Network Rail, along with Transport Scotland, have neglected this issue and have repeatedly ducked any responsibility on the matter.
